Story: Subantarctic islands

The Snares

This topographical map shows how North East Island, the major land area of the Snares group, is separated from the Western Chain of islands by over 4 kilometres of sea. Compared with the larger subantarctic islands, the Snares are comparatively low-lying, with the highest point only 130 metres above sea level.
