Skiing

Skiing was brought to New Zealand in the 1860s by Norwegian gold miners, who used skis to get to their diggings. By the early 20th century skiing had become a sport. The country offers spectacular terrain for a variety of snow sports such as ski mountaineering, snowboarding and heli-skiing.
