Another descendant of Porourangi was Kahungunu, the founding ancestor of Ngāti Kahungunu. As this whakapapa (genealogy) shows, a descendant of Kahungunu was Māhinaarangi, who married Tūrongo and gave birth to Raukawa. In this way Ngāti Porou trace links to the Tainui tribes.
