1954 Ngāuruhoe eruption

In 1954 Mt Ngāuruhoe, in the central North Island, erupted. This video clip shows the front of the slow-moving lava flow. As it inched forwards, blocks broke off and tumbled down the 30-metre high face, often exposing red-hot lava.
