Takahē rediscovered

The takahē, a flightless rail, was thought to be extinct in the early 20th century. But in 1948 it as rediscovered in a remote corner of Fiordland. In this clip from a National Film Unit newsreel, ornithologist Robert Falla investigates a takahē nest.
