Story: Birds of prey

Morepork chick

Morepork chick

Morepork chicks have white down at first, then brown. They start their life in nests built in tree forks, epiphytes or hollows such as tree holes. The female stays with the chicks until they are ready to leave the nest at 35 or 40 days. Newly fledged young often stay close to the adults for several more weeks.
