The Ranginui door

This glass door at Rongomaraeroa, the marae at Te Papa Tongarewa, New Zealand’s national museum, depicts Ranginui, the sky father, and Papatūānuku, the earth mother. The raising of the door represents the separation of heaven and earth. It was designed by Robert Jahnke of Ngāti Porou.
