Albert Belz, 2010

Playwright Albert Belz (Ngāti Porou, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Pōkai), seen here in 2010, became a full-time writer for stage and screen in 2001. His 2006 play Yours truly won Chapman Tripp awards for best new play, best New Zealand play and most original play. Four years later The Titanics, inspired by the Māori showbands of the 1960s, toured much of the country to similar acclaim.
