Air force flying passengers and cars across Cook Strait, 1971

The minister of defence can authorise the use of the armed forces to provide public services during industrial disputes. Between 1971 and 1983 the Royal New Zealand Air Force flew passengers and vehicles across Cook Strait during strikes by ferry workers. This flight took place in November 1971.
