Majestic Cabaret, 1942

Majestic Cabaret, 1942

Members of the US Navy and their partners pose for the camera at the Majestic Cabaret in Wellington in 1942. The Majestic Cabaret operated from 1929 to 1984 in Willis Street, and offered big band music, a large dance floor, lights, romance and glamour. During the Second World War US servicemen in Wellington frequently attended dances at the Majestic and other dance halls. Some met future wives who joined them in the US at the end of the war.
