Whangamatā marina

Whangamatā marina

The Whangamatā marina opened in November 2009. Its development was dogged by controversy – critics said that it would irreparably damage marine environments and rare wildlife; supporters argued it was a much-needed amenity, as there was previously only one other marina (at Whitianga) on the Coromandel Peninsula.
