Sparks fly as a technician works at A. & G. Price foundry in Thames. The foundry was established in 1871 by brothers Alfred and George Price, who had already established an engineering company at Onehunga in Auckland. The Thames foundry served the mining industry, making stamper batteries, pumps, crushers, ore feeders, steam engines and boilers. It also produced timber jacks and other equipment for the forestry industry, and later diversified into locomotive and ship building. In the early 2000s the foundry continues to manufacture a wide range of machinery for all major industries.
