YWCA mobile preschool, 1985

Some youth organisations diversified their activities over time. In the mid-1980s the Young Women's Christian Association established a mobile preschool with teachers and toys in West Auckland. Here they are leaving Massey community house. At this time there was a shortage of kindergarten places, and many young mothers were stranded in the suburbs as their husbands had driven the family car to work. Their children often missed out on preschool education.
