Story: Dalmatians

Milan Mrkusich

Milan Mrkusich

Born in Dargaville in 1925 and of Dalmatian descent, Milan Mrkusich worked as colour consultant for an Auckland architectural firm. He painted when time allowed and became interested in the possibilities and limits of colour. His work was among the first abstract New Zealand art to reflect international art movements. He is shown here with the windows he designed for the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, in 1994.
