At the age of 16 Gwen Lolani decided she was ready to be a mother. Despite warnings from her family that she was too young to have a child, she gave birth to her first daughter at 17. While Gwen found being a teenage mum difficult she did not regret her decision, believing it had made her a stronger and better person. In 2009, aged 25 and now the mother of four girls, she was studying towards a communications degree at Manukau Institute of Technology.
