W. B. Scandrett, fellow of the Incorporated Institute of Accountants

This 1899 advertisement announces that Mr W. B. Scandrett of Invercargill is a fellow (that is, full member) of the Incorporated Institute of Accountants. This organisation was set up in 1894 and people were granted membership on the basis of entry examinations. Mr Scandrett evidently combined work as a public accountant with auditing, and selling land, houses and insurance on commission. He had previously been town clerk of Invercargill and became its mayor in 1904.
