Meeting the minister

Meeting the minister

Immediately on forming their national federation in 1902, employer associations’ representatives met with the minister for public works. After stating that they accepted the permanence of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, and had no ‘feeling of enmity towards the working man’, the deputation plunged into matters that would concern the Employers’ Federation for decades to come. Wages, holidays and hours were all discussed.
