Eastern Southland Gallery, Gore

The Eastern Southland Gallery is in this building, which was Gore’s library for many decades. Expatriate psychologist John Money bequeathed a substantial art collection to the town. The John Money wing was opened in 2003, and includes African, Australian Aboriginal, and indigenous and contemporary American art, along with works by major New Zealand artists such as Rita Angus and Theo Schoon. The gallery also includes a number of works by Ralph Hōtere.
