Wellington duck hunter Brad Parkes stands outside his maimai with his dog Sha on opening morning in 1993. They had bagged two mallards and were looking forward to the evening’s shooting. A keen hunter, Brad had published his book Gamebird hunting in New Zealand the previous year.
