Story: Deer and deer farming

Wapiti–red deer crosses

Wapiti–red deer crosses

Crossing wapiti bulls with red deer hinds is now common to produce offspring with faster growth rates than red deer. However, the crossbreds have to be managed differently to obtain potential returns. Sometimes these animals look very similar to red deer. This red deer (centre) is flanked on either side by a crossbred animal.
