Nyree Dawn Porter

Nyree Dawn Porter became well known as an actress in the 1967 British television series The Forsyte saga. Her great-aunt was Te Rangi Pai, who had also won fame in England some 60 years earlier. Te Rangi Pai was born in 1868 to a British father and Māori mother. She was named Fanny Rose Porter, but took her mother’s name when she launched her singing career in the early 1900s.
