The reflections in Lake Matheson, in South Westland, are often admired by tourists. On a clear, windless day the peaks of Aoraki/Mt Cook and Mt Tasman are mirrored in the lake. Such scenes are usually best photographed in the early morning, before the wind rises and causes ripples on the lake surface.
