Mt Ngongotahā

Mt Ngongotahā

Mt Ngongotahā rises above Rotorua city. Its name is linked to the explorer Īhenga, who was offered a drink of water by a patupaiarehe woman at the top of the mountain. He named it Ngongotahā (‘drink from a calabash’).
