Railways publicity: the Chateau

The Chateau Tongariro hotel was built on the lower slopes of Mt Ruapehu in 1929 and was easily reached via the nearby main trunk line. This poster was produced around 1932. Curiously, it includes a smoking Mt Ngāuruhoe in the background – a tourist attraction for the more daring, perhaps?
