Hector’s field notes

Hector’s field notes

James Hector made these notes while examining the geology around Motueka, with a sketch showing the relationship of a band of limestone to the surrounding rocks. His handwriting is difficult to read, and this is one of the few legible pages in the notebook. All his notes are made in ink, which must have been a challenge in wet weather.
