Before television, newspapers and their offices provided election results. In Palmerston North the Manawatu Evening Standard building and the two smaller buildings on either side display the results of the 1935 election. The three groupings listed are Labour, National and others. The National Party did not officially form until 1936, but the United and Reform parties, which had been governing in coalition, campaigned together as the National Political Federation in 1935.
