Mt Eden quarry

Mt Eden quarry

Horses cart stones from the Auckland City Council quarry at Mt Eden in 1907. Auckland’s volcanoes were quarried from the beginning of colonial settlement. Some, such as Mt Smart, were completely levelled. All of the region’s volcanoes are now protected from further cutting.
