‘Bay of Islands, New Zealand’

‘Bay of Islands, New Zealand’

The English were very well represented among the first missionary families. When Augustus Earle visited the missionary settlements in the Bay of Islands in 1827, he wrote that ‘we came suddenly in front of a complete English village’. Later, he painted this panorama of Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands.
