Story: Media art

Simon Denny

Media artist Simon Denny was included in the main exhibition at the 2013 Venice Biennale, and will represent New Zealand in the 2015 biennale. In this extract from a television news item he comments on his work displayed at the biennale. Denny, who has been based mainly in Berlin since 2007, mixes video, sculpture and installation to reconsider the changing ways people encounter the media. He turns computer desktop landscapes into giant wall-sized murals, blends fish tanks with television casings and reworks corporate DVD presentations as paintings.
