Story: Judicial system

A tribunal case

In 2003 British actress Paula Hamilton went to the Human Rights Tribunal alleging that Christchurch alcohol rehabilitation centre, The Deanery, had breached her privacy by making public information about her stay there. Her case was successful and she was awarded damages. The Human Rights Tribunal is one of a number of tribunals that are deemed inferior courts for certain legal matters.
