The ‘Think Big’ projects were an attempt by Muldoon to diversify the New Zealand economy by creating new primary processing industries and developing energy projects. Interviewed on television by Dairne Shanahan in March 1984, he justified the projects on the grounds that they would earn overseas funds, thereby stimulating the economy and creating jobs. He is talking here about the Motunui methanol plant in Taranaki.
