Story: Parades and protest marches

CND march

Drawing inspiration from the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) Alderston marches in Britain, in 1961 a group of local CND supporters organised an anti-nuclear march from Featherston to Wellington. The march became an annual event. This clip, probably from 1962 or 1963, shows the march reaching the summit of the Remutaka hill road, while marcher explains why she has joined the protest.
