In this unusual underwater event on 23 May 2005, 50 scuba divers from the Tutukākā diving club descended to 29 metres in order to break the world record for ‘extreme ironing’. The record is measured by multiplying the number of divers by the depth at which they iron. It has been lodged with the Guinness Book of Records.
