Russian fishermen loading supplies

Photographed in 1978, crew members of the Russian supply ship Ostrov Ushakova unload bags of potatoes into one of the ship’s four refrigerated holds. This ship sailed out of Wellington Harbour to service a fleet of eight Russian fishing boats with fresh water, oil and food. The Ostrov Ushakova had a crew of 52, including eight women.
