Demonstration flight

Demonstration flight

In the early 20th century the spectacle of powered flight drew large numbers of onlookers. An enormous crowd gathered at the Auckland Domain on 19 April 1913 to watch Arthur ‘Wizard’ Stone make a demonstration flight in this Blériot monoplane. For most, this would have been the first time they had witnessed an aircraft in flight.
