Story: Football

Out of my way!

A woman in a New Zealand football uniform, with a football at hip level, sandwiched between two players in Australian football uniforms, one of whom has jumped up in the air.

New Zealand captain Marilyn Marshall forces her way past Australians Shona Bass (left) and Julie Dolan during a match for the Trans-Tasman Cup in May 1980. Marshall also captained the New Zealand women’s softball team. Her sister Debbie Leonidas also represented New Zealand in both sports.
