Dairy cows, Amuri Plain

The growing demand for milk powder on world markets and the increasing use of irrigation led to a considerable rise in the number of dairy cattle on the Canterbury Plains from the 1990s. Here cows graze on the Amuri Plain, with Culverden and the Hanmer Range in the distance.
