In May 2013 the AudioCulture website went live. It is the sister site to NZ On Screen and is also funded by NZ On Air, the government broadcasting funding agency. AudioCulture, which was conceived by the broadcaster Simon Grigg, described itself in 2014 as 'an online celebration of the people who have created the music, the scenes they shaped, and the audiences they played to.' The site is therefore organised around profiles of musicians and groups, histories of recording labels and descriptions of events such as the 1984 Queen Street riot.
