Skateboarding, 1969

Boys skateboard near a Horowhenua beach in October 1969. Skateboards made their first appearance in the 1960s, becoming widespread in the 1970s. Skateboarding later became an adult pastime with highly organised competitions, but it also remained a popular, spontaneous children's activity.
