Winning the Ranfurly Shield

Ever since the first challenge game in 1904, the Ranfurly Shield has been a fiercely fought contest for rugby supremacy among the provinces. On 15 August 2004 one of the smaller unions, Bay of Plenty, defeated Auckland to take the shield by a score of 33–28. Here Bay of Plenty fullback Adrian Cashmore and fellow team members show off the shield to ecstatic supporters.
