Family at The Neck, 1860s

The Neck, a peninsula marking an outer limit to Paterson Inlet/Whaka ā Te Wera, was home to a mixed Māori and Pākehā population through the 19th century. This 1860s photograph shows a family group, likely outside their own thatched-roofed house.
