Opening of Te Kupenga o te Matauranga marae, Palmerston North Teachers' College, 1980

The first marae to open at a teachers' college was Te Kupenga o te Matauranga at Palmerston North in 1980. About 200 people attended the opening day on 6 September, which also included a church service and hāngī.
