When the Maori Women’s Welfare League’s planned its Rapuora: health and Maori women research, it kept management of the study in-house and developed the project with close community involvement. Led by research director Elizabeth Murchie (left), Rapuora was produced in 1984 using new methods based on Māori cultural practices.
