Making things for a baby before birth is an important ritual in which parents, family and friends participate. This photograph shows prospective grandfather Maurie Faulknor knitting a baby blanket in 1994. When his daughter announced her pregnancy, Maurie asked his wife Lucy to teach him how to knit so he could make a special blanket for the baby.
