Interior of a dairy factory, early 1900s

Inside this dairy factory workers are shown processing milk into butter and cheese for local use and export. The skim milk residue, which would become a valuable raw material later in the 20th century, was taken away by the farmers. Factories such as this were set up by cooperatives across the country’s dairying regions.
