Children with bank books (1st of 2)

Children with bank books

Children have often been encouraged to save their money. These school pupils from Kelburn, Wellington, have bank books from several different banks. They were featured in the news because from 1 April 1992 any savings accounts for which the saver did not supply a tax number were to be taxed at 33 cents in the dollar. Very few school students had tax numbers.
