Napier Hospital, 1969

The Napier suburb of Hospital Hill is so named for Napier Hospital, which opened in 1880. The Napier Hospital complex closed in 1998 when the region’s main hospital services were concentrated in Hastings. In 2017 the buildings (the tall structure at right in this photograph) were being demolished.
