Bread queue

Bread queue

People queue to buy their bread from the Holsum Bread shop in George Street, Dunedin, on the Thursday before the Easter weekend in 1948. From 1945 shop trading hours and bread factory working hours were a five-day 40-hour week. This meant stale bread for Monday’s sandwiches for many people.
