Refugees arrive, 1985

Young Laotian refugee Souriyanh Thongprachanh presses his nose to the glass at Auckland’s airport. Held by his mother Khamphy, he tries to catch a glimpse of a country and of relatives he has never seen. Mother and son were among 64 refugees from Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam who arrived in 1985.
