Winter Nelis (left) and Beurre Bosc (right) are two of the most common European pear varieties grown in New Zealand. Winter Nelis are a medium-sized pear with a sweet, firm flesh. Their yellow-green skins are covered in russet dots or patches. Beurre Bosc pears have long tapering necks and rough brown skins. They are sweet and juicy, with grainy-textured flesh.
